A big frustration for the service industry is tracking employee tips. Since tips are often a majority of an employee's income and tax laws are changing, accurately tracking them is important. Tip Counter, an app for the iPhone, was designed to eliminate this problem.
Tip Counter's developer, Matt Brewer, came up with the idea for the app after spending time as a server in college.
Tip Counter's interface is very simple. It allows users to quickly enter tips during their shift, and can support multiple jobs at the same time. It's so fast, a server could potentially enter tips right after receiving them, which could save them time counting at the end of their shift.
For each job they work, a Time In/Time Out feature tracks the amount earned based off of an hourly wage. After a tip is entered, Tip Counter calculates exactly how much money has been earned during a shift.
Tip Counter can also display the total wages earned in a calendar format. A user can see what shifts were worked on certain days, and how much they earned during any given time. This feature allows users to view their income over time. Weekly, monthly, and yearly totals are even provided.
All in all, Tip Counter is incredibly simple to use and easy to learn. Servers need something quick and accurate for recording how much they receive from every customer. Tip Counter does exactly that.
The app isn't diluted with unnecessary features and costs a mere two dollars in the App Store. It is certainly worth giving a shot. It could vastly improve the productivity of your restaurant's employees.
