Des Moines is a city woven together by two rivers, the Des Moines and the Raccoon. While this capital city has enjoyed seemingly endless growth, few have taken advantage of its gorgeous shores. Until now.
Here at Change, we are incredibly excited to welcome The Riverwalk Hub to Des Moines and the Change family. Launched this summer, The Riverwalk Hub is the product of a revitalization partnership between the city and local restaurant entrepreneur, Michael LaValle.
The Hub was created to be an epicenter where both residents and visitors could enjoy the river at the heart of the city, bringing new life to its shores. During the recent Des Moines stop on RAGBRAI, thousands of cyclists flocked to the area around The Hub for an evening celebration on the river.
The Hub fare embraces the French history of the city with baguette sandwiches and freshly-made pastries, as well as local goods. From Peace Tree Brewery to Maytag Cheese, The Hub strives to feature a wide-range of Iowa-sourced products.
A True Hub for Eating, Drinking, and Living
The Hub’s vision to bring the people of Des Moines together requires a diverse menu, and it stopped at nothing to make this dream a reality. At The Hub, one can enjoy:
- A morning coffee for the commute to work
- Meats and cheeses for cyclists pulling off of the bike path
- Ice cream for families trying to cool off in the July heat
- Sandwiches for those on their lunch break
- Beer and wine for friends watching the sun set over the capitol
- Live outdoor music for everyone under the weekend lights of the city
The Riverwalk Hub is an exciting development for Des Moines. The city has long been searching for a spot to embrace the moments of summer along the Des Moines River. Now, it has one.
So stop by The Riverwalk Hub next to the Court Avenue bridge. Grab some food or a drink, and look out at the beautiful city we live in. You’ll never want to leave.
