Hello, I'm Scott, and I'm part of the Change team. I've been tasked with getting this blog off the ground and nurturing a community of independent business owners, their employees, and their supporters. We have great people working on Change, and I'm honored (and a little embarrassed) to be making the first post on the Change blog. This post isn't about me, but I do think it's important for the Change community to always know whom they're talking to. You won't be seeing anonymous updates from "The Change Team" or anything like that.
This is the blog for Change, a new system for managing independent businesses like coffee shops, bars, and retail shops. Change has two parts that work together. The first part is an iPad app that replaces the traditional cash register or bulky POS terminal. The second part is a website -- which you can access from anywhere -- that replaces the back office full of files and old computer hardware. And that's just for starters. We announced Change a few days ago and are busy working on the first version to be installed at Mars Cafe, a college-neighborhood coffee shop in our hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. More on them later.
While we will of course blog about designing and building Change, what we have to say isn’t nearly as important as what you have to say. In fact, we launched the Change website with a survey for fans of independent businesses to tell us about their experiences. We're as dedicated to building the conversation as we are to building Change. Write us at hello@changeapp.com, chat with us on Facebook and Twitter, or call us at 515-661-5561. You can always leave a blog comment, too.
In addition to blogging about Change, we’ll be writing, collecting, and sharing articles and resources we think independent business owners will find valuable -- stuff like innovative uses of technology at restaurants and cafes, using social media to increase sales at a t-shirt shop, or how to run your business from your phone. If you’re interested in contributing articles to the Change blog, please write to Scott, head of community for Change, at scott@changeapp.com.
Thanks for stopping by.
